The History of My Information Technology Adventure
This is the part about how I learned some technology stuff.
James Kramer
It all started when I was thrown into the Tech Department at an Office Depot. I guess I had a thing for talking to people about Computers and selling Services. Of course that then had me learning more on my free time.
After 8 long years at Office Depot, a former coworker recommended me as the Advanced Repair Agent for Geek Squad. That was much more hands on, less selling more fixing kind of work. I'd say I was pretty good at it. But due to some shady promotion stuff, I decided that Geek Squad wasn't for me.
After about a year and a half, I was offered another job as a welder for a rail car manufacturer. My I.T/Computer life gradually slowed down since I was only doing it at home. I kept my PCs running, but stopped tinkering. That is until I was put on a project team to work with HoloLens and Augmented Reality.
With that project, I worked with some Upper Management to help implement AR into our Decal process in manufacturing the rail cars. After months, the project was dropped due to some Higher Ups lack of interest.
From there, I found the drive to get back into I.T. I tried for a position with that company, but was shot down. So, I looked elsewhere and found another plant looking for an I.T. Specialist. Since starting here, I have been able to focus more of my time into learning things like VBA, Subnetting, Servers, and much more.
I also have just been accepted into a local university for a degree in Computer Information Systems. I'm also planning to take my CompTIA A+ and Fundamentals tests later in June 2024.
